Training

The City of Woodruff Fire Department prides itself in the rigorous and regimented training schedule that is conducted on a monthly basis.  Each year the department conducts over 100 hours of in house training that is available to each member.  The department has also set very high standards in the area of formal training provided by multiple agencies such as the National Fire Academy, the South Carolina Fire Academy, and the Spartanburg Emergency Services Academy to name a few.  The department boasts nearly 60% of the membership is trained to the level of Firefighter II with the remaining membership being certified to the OSHA Firefighter level.  This is an exceptional achievement considering the department is over 95% volunteer.  The department also conducted four live burn training exercises during the past year fulfilling the requirement set forth by ISO.
